bbones: natrasha: cguer: Zombie Stop-motion. REALLY COOL
this is strangely gory for clay. pretty amazing.
OMG. Watch the whole thing. Beginning to end. Andy and Thomas, you’ll effing love it.
Well, holy fuck. I demand a sequel. Chainsaw Maid vs. The Aliens!
I lol’d at “Well, holy fuck.”
This is fucking terrifying.
I would beg to differ. It is far more evilly uplifting than anything.
Think about the maid’s struggle against the zombie horde as a metaphor for the struggles that villains (and some normal people) face in life everyday. Once you see this, the plot and depth of the murderous maid turns into one of clarity and understanding.
In the beginning, she starts unbuttoning her dress in an attempt to seduce the man who has a child. Is she trying to knock boots with a married man? I didn’t see a ring. Is he a single dad? Probably. Or is he a kidnapper, of which the maid is unaware of? The child could have Stockholm syndrome. Regardless, this is a common thing many people face everyday.
She is, potentially, uninformed in the man’s current relationship status. Regardless, she wants him. This is a very quaint metaphor for the explicitness of human sexual desire. She doesn’t seem to care what potential monster the man may be, but she needs to be with him. This will be further proved later.
The man is the true villain of the short film. About 20 seconds into the minuscule epic, he is reading the paper that is commonly talking of disease, but yet, he fears not. He is unabashedly content with what is going on. I saw no bars on the windows or worry of the maid opening the door. He takes few precautions.
Why doesn’t he fear for his life or his child’s/kidnapped stranger’s? This is because he created the toxic outbreak. There are four pieces of evidence to prove such a seemingly illogical claim—though there are potentially more.
- The man is bitten in the beginning, but shows no signs of ill or even any worry that he has been bitten. When he obviously knows that it could potentially harm him—he read the paper. He doesn’t even scream! Later, he hides with his (kidnapped) child in a closet with what is shown as little worry for his life; he makes no bargaining attempts with the maid when he sees her again and, though seeming astounded, he doesn’t bother running away and looking for a new place to hide when he gets out of the closet. This is because he also created the antidote in the event he was bitten. He knows that the zombies will not kill/poison him. He could have even taken it in the closet! He shows little sign of pain whence coming out of it, barely clutching it. If someone were to tear out tendons from my shoulder, you can bet I’d be lying down and I fucking scream when it happened! He is doing neither.
- Isn’t it quite coincidence that the zombie who bit him did not kill him? She could have bit his neck, but instead goes for an area of the body that is riddled with bone—not even a zombie is that stupid. He simply needs to be bitten so few will question his motives, never even considering his involvement with the toxin’s creation and existence.
- He shows little horror at the fact that woman vomited up her entire insides on his table—even taking a sip of his coffee after it was done. Any horror you might think he is showing is obviously him acting—this is very evident, he shows little true emotion.
- Due to this being his house, how can one explain the fact that he keeps a chainsaw in a shed alone? This is because he already knows of the effectiveness of such a weapon against a zombie, in possibility of them turning on him. He didn’t want to make it too obvious by having several firearms and anti-zombie weaponry around, people might get suspicious. Instead, he knows that his neighbors will be far less susceptible to his cunning plan if he only has a chainsaw.
His utter lack of terror of the zombie-fucking-apocalypse shows he indeed knows more about the topic than the audience, but more so it plants him at the forefront of our suspect list for the mastermind of the zombie toxin.
This is slightly uplifting for the man, because few will suspect his actions—chances are you didn’t. This should make the man feel good that his plan was executed so perfectly. His infatuated maid battles for him, his child/victim gives him a role to fill in society as a loving person, and, most of all, he can rest safely knowing that his story as a “victim” of the zombie apocalypse will give him perfect cover.
Returning to the maid, we mostly follow her unrelenting quest to save the man who she loves, but who sees her as little more than a plaything. She happily mows down multiple zombies in an alarmingly simple and effective fashion. Is she in on her man’s plot? Possibly, but there is not enough evidence to convict her on such an account—yet.
This is a glaring example of how much one person can work towards another and prospectively not have the feelings returned. She is a hapless romantic, who might also be in on the man’s plan. Who knows maybe she’s simply being the mafia wife to her employer.
I reference the child perhaps being a kidnapped victim with Stockholm syndrome throughout this article, but what evidence do I have for such claims? Here’s some:
- The child only has a teddy bear, a bed, and a dresser with a light in her room. What kind of father doesn’t get her more? The bear may be, in fact, a leftover of her past life.
- The man shows little affection for the girl when she sees the woman spill her insides unto the table in the living room. What kind of father doesn’t console his daughter after such a traumatic event? None. He was more interested to see the effects of his zombie toxin on his first victim. Fucking bastard.
- The maid brings her food in her room. Now, this could simply be the maid trying to keep the girl in her room due to her urge to fuck the man, but I don’t think that’s the case. I think that the man locked her in that room, never letting her go outside. This is backed up by her marvel at the chirping bird. She isn’t allowed outside anymore—this is something you can see in her eye! The maid smiling along with her just shows the maid’s obliviousness to the fact that the child is a victim.
The girl is trying to make the best of a bad situation. This is something we all try to do commonly—easy to relate to.
This story is much more deep than most people might notice upon first viewing. Feel free to share your thoughts.
tl;dr
Thank you for your wonderful insight!
